                                                                                                                        <abstract><p>Amaç: Fibromiyalji sendromu (FMS), temel olarak kronik yaygın ağrının olduğu, psikolojik ve somatik yakınmaların eşlik ettiği, nedeni bilinmeyen bir hastalıktır. Tip 2 diyabetes mellitus ve hipomagnezemide de  kronik  kas ağrıları,  nöromüsküler sistem bulguları, yorgunluk  gibi  FMS’ ye benzer semptomlar görülmektedir ve   aralarındaki ilişki hakkında çok az şey bilinmektedir. Amacımız, tip 2 diyabetes Mellitus olan hastalarda fibromiyalji sendromu ve serum magnezyum düzeyleri  arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemektir. Gereç ve  Yöntemler: Dahiliye polikliğine başvuran  tip 2 diyabetes mellitusu olan  hastalar   çalışmaya dahil edildi. Kronik ağrısı olan tüm hastalar FMS varlığı açısından değerlendirildi. FMS olan hastalar vaka grubu ve FMS olmayan olgular kontrol grubu olarak tanımlandı ve her iki grubun serum magnezyum düzeyleri ölçüldü. Bulgular: FMS, kadınlarda daha yüksek bulundu (p= 0.027). FMS  olan ve olmayan diyabetik hastalar karşılaştırıldığında, FMS  olan grupta, diyabet yılı daha uzun saptandı, sırasıyla (8.2±3.9; 5.8±3.7; p= 0.04). Hipomagnezemi, FMS olan grupta 2,619 kat daha fazla saptandı (OR= 2,619). Serum magnezyum düzeyi, HbA1c ve diyabet yılı ile negatif korelasyona sahipti (sırasıyla; r= -0,312, p= 0,030; r= -0,223, p=0,035). Sonuç: Hipomagnezemi ve FMS sıklığı  daha uzun Diyabetes mellitus süresi ile ilişkilidir. Hipomagnezemi,FMS de daha sık görülmektedir ve  diyabetin kötü kontrolü ile ilişkilidir.</p></abstract>
