Türkiye’de Yaygın Olarak Tüketilen Bitki Çaylarının Tıp ve Diş Hekimliğinde Uygulama Alanları

Abstract

İnsanlar geçmişten günümüze yaşadıkları bölgede yetişen bitkileri gıda ve ilaç olarak kullanmış, bunlarla ilgili deneyimler nesilden nesile aktarılmıştır. Özellikle son yıllarda insanların sentetik ilaçların bazı yan etkilerinden kaçınmak istemeleri nedeniyle doğal ürünlere ilgi artmış, özellikle de çay olarak tüketilen bitkilerin tüketimi yaygınlaşmıştır. Dünyada çay denilince ilk akla gelen Camellia sinensis bitkisinin farklı şekillerde işlenmesiyle üretilen siyah ve yeşil çay olsa da diğer pek çok bitkiden de çeşitli lezzet ve biyoaktif özellikte çay elde edildiği ve tüketildiği bilinmektedir. Bitki çaylarının genel sağlık ve ağız diş sağlığı üzerindeki etkileri bileşimlerinde bulunan sekonder metabolitlerden ve özellikle de fenolik maddeler grubundan flavanoidlerden ileri gelmektedir. Ancak her bitki çayının sağlık üzerine göstermiş olduğu faydalı özelliği bitkiye ve bitkinin kullanıldığı kısmına göre değişiklik göstermektedir. Bu makalede ülkemizde yaygın tüketimi bulunan nane, ıhlamur, rezene, papatya, adaçayı ve dağ çayı gibi bitkilerinden elde edilen çayların kullanım alanları ve sağlık üzerindeki olumlu özellikleri bilimsel veriler ışığında derlenmiştir.
