<p>Students who read fluently but don’t understand what they read sufficiently are parrot readers. This study aims to determine the proportion of parrot readers among fluent readers. A survey study design, one of the quantitative research methods, was used. Students&#039; reading fluency was determined by calculating their accuracy, speed, and prosody scores, and their reading comprehension was determined through comprehension questions. Based on the students&#039; reading fluency and comprehension, the proportion of parrot readers among fluent readers was determined. Office365 program was used for data analysis. The study group consisted of 311 volunteer 2nd, 3rd, and 4th-grade students studying in a primary school in Istanbul in the 2022-2023 academic year. It was determined that at least 32,84% of fluent readers at each grade level were parrot readers. Parrot readers were most common in the second grade (80,64%) and least common in the third grade (32,84%).</p></trans-abstract>
