Factors related to disclosure time in sexually abused children

Year 2022, Volume: 36 Issue: 2, 74 - 78, 01.08.2022

Abstract

Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the factors affecting the disclosure time of child sexual abuse cases.
Methods: This study was designed retrospectively and the reports of child sexual abuse cases evaluated between January 1, 2018 and December 31, 2019 were examined.
Results: 75% of the cases were girls. The mean age of the victims at the time they were abused was found to be 12.5±3.5. 68.9% of crime was committed in the city. There is no Intellectual Disability in 81.5% of the victims. 51.4% of the victims disclosed the abuse after at least 6 months. It was determined that the disclosure period was longer in girls, preschool children and children without intellectual disability (p<0.001; p<0.001; p<0.05, respectively).
Conclusion: In our country standardization of child sexual abuse prevention programs, increasing the rate of implementation, ensuring the evaluation and providing follow-up, raising awareness of professional occupational groups, especially students, teachers and health workers can be effective in early detection of sexual abuse and other types of abuse and in accelerating the next steps to be taken.

Cinsel istismar mağduru çocuklarda olayın ortaya çıkış süresini etkileyen faktörler

Year 2022, Volume: 36 Issue: 2, 74 - 78, 01.08.2022

Abstract

Bulgular: Olguların; %75’i kızdı.
