TİP 2 DİYABETİ OLAN BİREYLERDE STİGMA VE HASTALIĞI KABUL ARASINDAKİ İLİŞKİNİN İNCELENMESİ

Abstract

Bu araştırma tip 2 diyabet tanısı almış bireylerde stigma ve hastalığı kabul arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırma tanımlayıcı tipte olup, örneklemi 310 diyabet tanısı almış birey oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın verileri, Tip 2 Diyabet Tanısı Almış Bireylerde Sosyodemografik Verileri İçeren Form, Tip 2 Diyabet Tanısı Almış Bireylerde Hastalığı Kabul Ölçeği ve Tip 2 Diyabet Tanısı Almış Bireylerde Stigma Ölçeği kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Bireylerin hastalığı kabul ile toplam stigma ölçeği değişkenleri arasında orta, negatif ve anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuştur (r=-0.625, p<0.01). Hastalığı kabul ile stigmanın alt boyutlarından öz stigma için orta, negatif ve anlamlı olduğu saptanmıştır (r=-0.608, p<0.01). Farklı davranılması ve hastalığı kabul arasında da orta, negatif ve anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuştur (r=-0.593, p<0.01). Hastalığı kabul ve suçlama ve yargılama alt boyutu arasında da orta, negatif ve anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuştur (r=-0.508, p<0.01). Sonuç olarak diyabet tanısı almış bireylerin hastalığı kabul ile toplam stigma ölçeği değişkenleri arasında orta, negatif ve anlamlı bir ilişki saptanmıştır.

THE INVESTIGATION OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN STIGMA AND ACCEPTANCE OF THE DISEASE IN INDIVIDUALS WITH TYPE 2 DIABETES

Abstract

This study was conducted to examine the relationship between stigma and disease acceptance in individuals diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. The study is a descriptive study and the sample consists of 310 individuals diagnosed with diabetes. The data of the study were collected using the Form Including Sociodemographic Data for Individuals Diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, Illness Acceptance Scale for Individuals Diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and Stigma Scale for Individuals Diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. A moderate, negative and significant correlation was found between the individuals' disease acceptance and the total stigma scale variables (r=-0.625, p<0.01). It was found that the relationship was moderate, negative and significant for disease acceptance and self-stigma, one of the sub-dimensions of stigma (r=-0.608, p<0.01). A moderate, negative and significant correlation was also found between being treated differently and disease acceptance (r=-0.593, p<0.01). A moderate, negative, and significant correlation was found between the disease acceptance and the blame and judgment subscales (r=-0.508, p<0.01). Consequently, a moderate, negative, and significant correlation was found between disease acceptance and the total stigma scale variables in individuals with diabetes.
