<p>Picture story books are used as an indispensable tool in children&#039;s education. The illustrated story books that children are introduced to from the moment they are born can affect their attitudes and understanding toward sold age. The aim of this study is to examine how the concept of old age is reflected in preschool picture story books. In this context; The suitability of picture story books for preschool children and the inclusion of elderly characters in the story books represent the criteria of the study. In line with the criteria, illustrated story books were obtained from authors&#039; libraries, kindergarten libraries and publishing houses. 23 of these boks are translations and 35 are local publications. Content analysis was used to analyze the study data. The data was classified within the framework of the created code sand categories. While reporting the results obtained from the content analysis, frequency and percentage calculations were made. Care was taken to make the themes as descriptive as possible and they were supported by including visual sections in illustratedstorybooks. As a result of the study, the actions of the elderly individuals in the story books, their roles, their effects on the family and children, their clothes and the places where they are depicted, how they are named, their physical characteristics, character traits and character traits and the people they were portrayed with were determined.</p></trans-abstract>

Çocukların doğdukları andan itibaren tanıştıkları resimli öykü kitapları onların yaşlılığa karşı tutum ve anlayışlarını etkileyebilir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, okul öncesi resimli öykü kitaplarında yaşlılık kavramının nasıl yansıtıldığının incelenmesidir. Araştırmanın örneklemini, ölçüt örnekleme yöntemiyle belirlenen resimli öykü kitapları oluşturmaktadır. Bu bağlamda; resimli öykü kitaplarının okul öncesi dönem çocuklarına uygunluğu ve öykü kitaplarında yaşlı karakterlerin yer alması çalışmanın ölçütlerini ifade etmektedir. Ölçütler doğrultusunda yazarların kütüphanelerinden, anaokullarının kütüphanelerinden ve yayınevlerinden resimli öykü kitaplarına ulaşılmıştır. Bu kitapların 23’ü çeviri, 35’i yerli yayındır. Çalışma verilerinin analizinde içerik analizi kullanılmıştır. Oluşturulan kod ve kategoriler çerçevesinde veriler sınıflandırılmıştır. İçerik analizinden elde edilen sonuçlar rapor edilirken frekans ve yüzde hesaplamaları yapılmıştır. Temaların mümkün olduğunca tanımlayıcı olmasına dikkat edilmiş ve resimli öykü kitaplarında yer alan görsel kesitlere yer verilerek desteklenmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda öykü kitaplarındaki yaşlı bireylerin, gerçekleştirdiği eylemler, rolleri, aile ve çocuklar üzerindeki etkileri, kıyafetleri ve resmedildikleri mekânlar, nasıl adlandırıldıkları, fiziksel özellikleri, karakter özellikleri ve birlikte resmedildikleri kişiler belirlenmiştir.</p>
