Crete is now part of Greece and is the second largest island in the Eastern Mediterranean after Cyprus. The island, which has had a strategic significance throughout history, is located in an significant location that separates the Mediterranean from the Aegean. Crete, which came under Ottoman rule in 1645, remained under Ottoman patronage for nearly three centuries until 1913. As a result of this protection, besides the political life, a social, human, cultural, mystical and literary life emerged on the island. The number of artists who grew up in Crete and produced works in verse and prose is over fifty. One of the poets raised by the island is Ramiz Celȃl. Based on the poems in the Diwan of the poet, whose life is not known in the sources, it is understood that he lived in the 19th century and was a follower of the Mawlawi sect. The only known work of the poet is his Diwan. There are poems in different verse forms in his diwan. In this study, first of all, the literary activities in Crete were discussed, and then information was given about the life, mystical aspect, literary personality and works of Cretan Rȃmiz Ceȃl, who was raised in this literary environment. In addition, the poems in the Diwan were examined in terms of their shape features.
Girit, günümüzde Yunanistan’a bağlı olup, Doğu Akdeniz’in Kıbrıs’tan sonra ikinci büyük adasıdır. Tarih boyunca stratejik bir öneme sahip olan ada, Akdeniz’i Ege’den ayıran önemli bir mevkidedir. Girit, 1645’ten 1913’e kadar yaklaşık üç asra yakın Osmanlı himayesinde kalmıştır. Bu himaye neticesinde adada siyasi hayatın yanı sıra sosyal, beşerî, kültürel, tasavvufi ve edebî bir hayat oluşmuştur. Girit’te yetişmiş manzum ve mensur eser veren sanatçıların sayısı ellinin üzerindedir. Adanın yetiştirdiği şairlerden biri de Râmiz Celȃl’dir. Hayatı hakkında kaynaklarda bilgi olmayan şairin Divan’ında yer alan şiirlerden hareketle XIX. yüzyılda yaşadığı ve Mevlevi tarikatına müntesip olduğu anlaşılmaktadır. Şairin tespit edilebilen tek eseri Divan’ıdır. Divan’ında farklı nazım şekillerinde şiirleri yer almaktadır. Çalışmada öncelikle Girit’teki edebî faaliyetler ele alınmış, akabinde bu edebî muhitte yetişmiş olan Giritli Rȃmiz Celȃl’in hayatı, tasavvufi yönü, edebî şahsiyeti ve eserleri hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Ayrıca Divan’da yer alan şiirler şekil özellikleri açısından incelenmiştir.
