Advice-letters, which has an important place in classical Turkish literature, played a role in the regulation of social life with the religious, mystical and moral advice they contain. Advice-letters, many examples of which have been written over the centuries, draw attention with their sincerity. The advices shaped by the ideal human foresight of Islam combines with the life experience of the parents and are presented to children as a life guide. One of the last period’s advice-letters written for children in classical literature belongs to Mehmed Nâzım Pasha. In the advice-letter titled Hikmet, Nâzım, which he added to the third edition of his work called Muhataba, the poet addressed both his son Hikmet and his grandson Nâzım. The work written in the form of Mesnevi; it consists of the titles "Morality", "Science", "Word", "Homeland" and "Duty". In this article, these titles in the work published in 1328 (1910/1911) were examined in terms of content and compared with the advices of the classical period. It is seen that Mehmed Nâzım Pasha generally included the advices in the classical period advice-letters under the titles of "Morality" and "Word". While what is meant by “science” in advice-letters is mostly religious science, Mehmed Nâzım Pasha also talked about the contributions of science to humanity. The poet, who did not stay away from the military and political problems of the Ottoman Empire, made innovations by adding the titles of "Homeland" and "Vazife" to his advice-letters. In these chapters, it is emphasized that the country's territory should be defended against the enemy and that the state officials should do their duties properly.
