Evaluation of Sound Quality by Acoustic Analysis After Bilateral Reinke’s Edema Surgery

Abstract

Objective:In this study, after the correction of the etiological factors diagnosed as Reinke edema, the sound made before and after surgery was evaluated in patients with surgical decision and discussed with the literature.
Methods:Patients who were operated at our service with a diagnosis of bilateral reink edema between 2015-2019 were evaluated retrospectively. The voice recordings of all patients were recorded acoustic and spectrographically 1 week before the operation and 1 month after the operation. In acoustic analysis, Mean basic frequency (Fo), mean intensity, percentage of jitter (%), percentage of shimmer (%) were measured. The values before and after the operation were compared statistically.
Results:As a result of comparison of acoustic analysis findings before and after the operation, a significant difference was found in all parameters except Fo parameter.
Conclusion:Reinke's edema; It is a benign polypoid degeneration with characteristic histology of the reinke cavity. Endolaryngeal surgery performed after the etiological factors are removed from there increases the sound quality.

Bilateral Reinke Ödemi Cerrahisi Sonrası Ses Kalitesinin Akustik Analiz ile Değerlendirilmesi:

Abstract

Giriş/Amaç:Bu çalışmada Reinke ödemi tanısı alan etyolojik faktörler düzeltildikten sonra cerrahi kararı verilen hastalarda cerrahi öncesi ve sonrası yapılan ses değerlendirilerek literatür eşliğinde tartışıldı.
Gereç ve Yöntemler:Servisimizde 2015-2019 yılları arasında bilateral reinke ödemi tanısı ile opere edilen hastalar retrospektif olarak değerlendirildi. Bütün hastaların operasyondan 1 hafta önce ve operasyondan 1 ay sonra kontrollerinde ses kayıtları akustik ve spektrografik olarak kaydedildi. Akustik analizde; ortalama temel frekans (Fo), ortalama şiddet, jitter yüzdesi(%), shimmer yüzdesi (%) parametreleri ölçüldü. Operasyon öncesi ve sonrası değerler istatistiksel olarak karşılaştırıldı.
Bulgular:Ameliyat öncesi ve sonrası akustik analiz bulgularının karşılaştırılması sonucunda, Fo parametresi hariç tüm parametrelerde anlamlı fark saptandı.
Sonuç:Reinke ödemi; Reinke boşluğunun karakteristik histolojik ile iyi huylu polipoid dejenerasyonudur. Etyolojik faktörler oradan kaldırıldıktan sonra yapılan endolarengeal cerrahi ses kalitesini oldukça yükseltir.
