There are many examples in the history of Azerbaijani literature reflecting religious stories. This article examined the verses of Khaqani Shirvani, who lived in the 12th century, the works of Ain al-Quzat Miyaneji “Shakva al-gharib” and Shihab al-Din Yahya Suhrawardi “al-Ghurbat al-gharbiyya”; were researched the religious stories and stories about life of prophets and saints. In the article get special attention of the heritages of Ain al-Quzat Miyaneji and Shihab al-Din Yahya Suhrawardi. In 2019, the 920th anniversary of the birth of Ain al-Quzat Miyaneji and the 865th anniversary of the birth of Shihab al-Din Yahya Suhrawardi was celebrated. And 920 years have passed since the death of Khakani Shirvani. Particular attention was paid to the heritage of Ain al-Quzat Miyaneji and Shihab al-Din Yahya Suhrawardi as the subject of a personal study of the author. The article gives a brief overview of the life and creativity of these prominent persons who lived in the same century in Azerbaijan. Because Ain al-Quzat Miyaneji and Shihab al-Din Yahya Suhrawardi always attracted the attention of world scientists with their work. In the article, the reference of these thinkers to religious stories is emphasized. Ain al-Quzat Miyaneji's work reminds of Josep's story about the jealousy of the ignorants. Shihab al-Din Yahya Suhrawardi's work is based on religious stories from beginning to end. As a principle, in both of these works, some legends point to the Tur Mount, the hoopoe bird, the story of Joseph, the Noah's Ark, Prophet Moses, Prophet Lot, and other religious stories. At the same time, various examples are given from Quran Ayahs.
