LİPOİK ASİT: EVRENSEL ANTİOKSİDAN

Abstract

Alfa lipoik asit bazı yiyeceklerde bulunan ve aynı zamanda vücutta sentezlenen doğal bir maddedir. Serbest radikal hasarını önleyen lipoik asit yağda ve suda çözünebilmesi açısından antioksidanlar arasında tektir. İnsanlarda lipoik asit enerji oluşumunu içeren çeşitli 2-oksoasit dehidrogenazların bir parçasıdır. Okside lipoik asit ve redükte lipoik asit olarak 2 formu bulunmaktadır. Redükte lipoik aside dihidrolipoik asit de denmektedir. Dihidrolipoik asit biyolojik olarak daha aktiftir. Lipoik asit mitokondride oktanoik asit ve bir sülfür kaynağından sentez edilmektedir. Lipoik asit oral verildiğinde % 93’den fazlası barsaktan emilir, karaciğerde metabolizmayla % 20-30 ilk geçiş etkisine uğrar. α-Lipoik asidin insanlardaki primer metabolik yolu S-metilasyon β-oksidasyondur. Lipoik asit açil taşıyıcı olup iki elektron taşımakla görevlidir. α- ketoglutarat dehidrogenaz ile pirüvat dehidrogenaz enzim kompleksleri içinde bulunur. Lipoik asit pirüvatın oksidatif dekarboksilasyonunda koenzim olarak görev yapmaktadır. Lipoik asidin serbest radikal hasarını uzaklaştıran vitamin E ve vitamin C’ yi rejenere ettiği gösterilmiştir.
