Abstract

Mast hücreleri vücudun dış ortamla ilişkide bulunduğu yerlerde örneğin; deri, solunum sistemi, sindirim sisteminde fazla sayıda bulunur. Söz konusu dokulardaki bu durum mast hücrelerinin yabancı madde girişine karşı savunma hattında yer alan ilk hücrelerden olmasından kaynaklanır. Mast hücreleri salgıladıkları biyoaktif moleküller ile alerji, akut ve kronik inflamasyon gibi reaksiyonlarda başrol oynarlar. Ayrıca anjiogenez, doku tamiri ve parazitlere karşı vücudun savunulmasında görev alırlar
