                            <p>Objective: Aging is an inevitablebiological process for almost all organisms. As you get older, the risk ofdeveloping chronic diseases (obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases,cancer, Alzheimer&#039;s, etc.) increases. Therefore, studies on mechanisms of agingand interventions affecting life span have been more important nowadays; since,especially, the proportion of elderly population has increased significantly.Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans) is a widely used model organism in agingresearch because of its short life span, easy maintenance, cost-effectivenesetc. It is known that interventions that increase the resistance of livingorganisms to stresses such as high temperature have generally a positive effecton their life span. Avocado (Persea americana) fruit is widely consumed asfunctional food.Methods:In this study, the effect of avocadomesocarp extract on thermotolerance in C. elegans was tested at 75 to 150 μg/mLfinal concentrations.Results: Although the highest survival was observed at 75μg/mL, the difference between the groups was not statistically significant.Conclusion: In future research, it is recommended to test doses above and below thedoses tested in this study</p></trans-abstract>
                                                                                                                                    <abstract><p>Amaç: Yaşlanmaneredeyse tüm organizmalar için kaçınılmaz bir biyolojik süreçtir. Yaşlandıkça,kronik hastalıklara (obezite, diyabet, kardiyovasküler hastalıklar, kanser,Alzheimer vb.) yakalanma riski de artmaktadır. Bu nedenle yaşlanmamekanizmaları ve yaşam süresini etkileyen girişimler üzerinde yapılanaraştırmalar, özellikle yaşlı nüfusun oranının belirgin şekilde arttığıgünümüzde daha da önem kazanmıştır. Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans) kısayaşam süresi, kolay idamesi, ekonomik oluşu vb. nedenlerle yaşlanmaaraştırmalarında yaygın olarak kullanılan bir model organizmadır. Canlılarınsıcak gibi streslere dayanıklılığını artıran girişimlerin yaşam süresi üzerindede genellikle olumlu etkisi olduğu bilinmektedir. Avokado (Persea americana)meyvesi fonksiyonel gıda olarak yaygın bir şekilde tüketilmektedir.Yöntem: Bu çalışmada, avokado mezokarp ekstresinin 75ile 150 μg/mL final konsantrasyonlarında C. elegans’ta termotolerans üzerineetkisi incelenmiştir.Bulgular: Çalışmada75 μg/mL konsantrasyonda en yüksek sağ kalım gözlenmiş olmakla birlikte,gruplar arasındaki fark istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bulunmamıştır.Sonuç: Gelecekte yapılacak araştırmalarda, buçalışmada test edilen dozların altındaki ve üstündeki dozların test edilmesiönerilir.</p></abstract>
