Abstract

Abstract
Coronavirus (COVID-19) infection seen in China in December 2019 and declared as a pandemic seems to be effective in the ground age group. However, newborns are at high risk due to the immature of immune systems, the possibility of maternal vertical transition, the possibility of perinatal contact via stool and urine during deliveries and close contact with the infected mother after birth. This situation brought about problems such as how to approach newborns and whether breastfeeding is safe or not. Available data on COVID-19 pregnant women and newborns are limited. It is important for midwives serving pregnant women and newborns in their study areas to know how to take care of newborns in the presence of this infection. This article aims to present current information about COVID-19 infection management in newborns and pregnant women in literature.
