Abstract
A. N. Whitehead is a influential philosopher who affected on contemporary thought. As a thinker of process philosophy, Whitehead, in parallel with his theological thoughts, handles his socio-cultural thoguhts in the context of process philosophy. In this frame, one topic he treats is civilisation. According to him, the importance of civilization emerges in self-realization of individual and the civilisation reachs its peak by education. In this article, we will try to show his thought concerning civilisation, particularly his approach to the matter of civlisation, in the context of process philosophy

Abstract
A. N. Whitehead, ortaya koymuş olduğu düşünceleri ile XX. Yüzyıl felsefesinde önemli etkiler bırakmış bir filozoftur. Süreç felsefesi içinde yer alan Whitehead, teolojik düşüncelerine paralel olarak sosyal ve kültürel alanlardaki görüşlerinde de “süreç” anlayışından ayrılmaz. Bu çerçevede ele aldığı konulardan biri de medeniyetleşmedir. Medeniyetleşmeyi bireyin kendisini yaşadığı toplumda gerçekleştirme süreci olarak ele alan filozof, bunun eğitim yolu ile tekâmüle ereceğini savunur. Bu çalışmanın amacı, süreç filozofu Whitehead’ın, medeniyet anlayışına ilişkin görüşlerini ve özellikle onun süreç felsefesi bağlamında medeniyet sorununa yaklaşımını ortaya koymaktır.
