Orthopaedic evaluation of metastatic bone tumorus

Abstract

37 patients with metestatic bone tumour, who applied to the Orthopaedics and Traumatology Clinic of Istanbul University Medical Faculty of Istanbul between 1975-1985, have been studied. Lung cancer (7 patients, l8.9%) and breast cancer (5 patients, l3.5%) have been encountered most commonly. 20 patients had surgical treament (54.07%). In orthopaedic treatment, the aim is not treaing the tumour. The main goal is improving the patients general condition, mobilizing the patient, and giving the patient the opportunity of leading his daily life more comfortably. In order to reach this goal, proper patient selection, use of bone cement in addition to internal fixation are important factors.

Metastatik kemik tümörlerinin ortopedik cerrahi açısından incelenmesi

Abstract

İ.Ü.İstanbul Tıp Fakültesi, Ortopedi ve Travmatoloji Anabilim Dalına 1975-1985 yılları arasında müracaat eden 37 metastatik kemik tümörlü hasta incelenmiştir. En sık olarak akciğer (7 hasta, % l8,9) ve meme kanseri (5 hasta%l3.5) metastazına rastlanmıştır. 20 hastaya (%54.07) cerrahi tedavi uygulandı. Ortopedik tedavide amaç tümör tedavisi değildir. Asıl amaç hastanın genel durumunu düzeltmek, mobilize etmek, yaşam sevyesini yükseltmektir. Bu amaca ulaşmak için uygun hasta seçimi , internal tespite ilave olarak kemik çimentosu kullanımı önemli avantaj sağlar.
