Operative Treatment in Osteogenesis Imperfecta With Telescopic Nails

Abstract

We performed multipl osteotimies and intramedullar fixation with telescopi nails in 8 femora in 5 patients who had osteogenesis imperfcta. We have'nt seen any complications, such as pseudoarthrosis, although our following is too short. This type of treatment has many superiorities the others. First important superiorty: The nail pass the epifizieal plate thus as the child grows nail would not perforate he cortex, second one is as the child grows the nail can be longer with the femur.

Abstract

Cerrahpaşa Tıp Fakültesi Ortopedi ve Travmatoloji Anabilim Dalına 1984-1985 yılları arasında başvuran osteogenesis imperfekta'lı hastalar arasında 5 tanesinin 8 femuruna Multipl Osteotomi ve teleskopik çivi ile Medüller Osteosentez uygulandı. Takiplerin kısa olmasına rağmen şu ana kadar herhangi bir komplikasyonun görülmemesi, çocuğun büyümesi ile birlikte çivinin de uzayarak etkinliğini sürdürmesi bu yöntemin tercih edilmesine sebep olmuştur.
