The anlysis of fatigue fracture in a Harrington rod

Abstract

Macroscopical and microscopical studies effected on Harrington rod employed in the body wity the intention of treating scoliosis manifested that repeadet weight bearing resulted in fatigue fractures. In microscopical studies, it was also detected that the design and the way rod is manufactured encouraged the production of fracture.

Abstract

Vücut içerisinde skolyoz tedavisi gayesi ile kullanılan Harrington çubuğu üzerinde yapılan makroskobik ve mikroskobik etüdler, tekrarlı yüklerden sonra yorulma kırılmasının meydana geldiğini göstermiştir. Mikroskobik incelemeler, çubuğun imal tarzı ve dizaynının kırılmanın meydana gelişini teşvik ettiği tesbit edilmiştir.
