The opposite hip in unilateral developmental dysplasia of the hip

Year 1997, Volume: 31 Issue: 3, 191 - 194, 11.09.2006

Abstract

In patients with unilateral developmental dysplasia of the hip, it has been recognized that the opposite hip may develop abnormally in long term follow up. It is therefore important to observe the ÒnormalÓ side carefully. The radiographs of 454 patients with unilateral developmental dysplasia of the hip were studied. The acetabular index, CE angle of Wiberg and Smith's c/b and h/b of the ÒnormalÓ side were measured. The average duration of follow up was 3.5 years (range 6 months to 8 years). There was a pathologic acetabular index in18.8%, pathologic CE angle in 20%, and pathologic Smith's ratios in 9.5% of patients according to the CSHD system of Tonnis. The opposite hip of the unilateral dysplasia must be examined clinically and radiologically every year until normal skeletal maturity is reached or treatment is obviously necessary.

Unilateral gelişimsel kalça displazilerinde karşı kalça

Year 1997, Volume: 31 Issue: 3, 191 - 194, 11.09.2006

Abstract

Tönnis' in CSHD sistemine göre asetabuler indeks %18.8, CE açışı %20 ve Smith'in oranları %9.5 oranında patolojik bulunmuştur.
