We investigated the optimal period of immobilization that could be tolerated to obtain satisfactory results in the patients treated conservatively who had tibial plateau fracture. There were 20 patients. 15 male and 5 female, mean age was 48.1 we were able to review the patients who were treated by traction and cast immobilization. Mean follow-up period was 26.6 months (6 to 48) and the results were assessed using Iowa Knee Scoring System and fracture classification was made according to system described by Hohl. The result were compared among the patients based on the period after fracture that the knee was immobilized up to 6-8 weeks and further. It was found that immobilization up to 6-8 weeks can be tolerated to obtain satisfactory result. If the period of immobilization further, in some cases in spite of the that the range of motion was maintained, the knee score reduced.
