This study was conducted to examine the postgraduate theses on human rights and democracy education in the field of social studies education. Within the scope of the research, 17 postgraduate thesis on human rights and democracy education were examined in terms of different variables. Document analysis method was used in this study in which qualitative research method was adopted. The data collected from graduate theses were analyzed using the descriptive analysis technique. As a result of the research, it was concluded that the most master's theses were written on human rights and democracy education in the field of social studies education. Besides, it was seen in the research that the most theses were prepared in 2017 and the highest number of thesis were prepared at Erzincan University. It was determined that qualitative research method was preferred more in postgraduate theses and the survey model was largely used as the research design. It was observed that more than one data collection tool was used in collecting data and the survey was at the forefront. It has been observed that social studies teachers are more preferred as data sources in theses, and that descriptive analysis comes to the fore in qualitative research and percentage/frequency analysis comes to the fore in quantitative research. It was determined that the methods were not specified in some of the studies examined. This situation negatively affected the comprehensibility of the research. Considering the research results, collective suggestions are presented for studies on human rights and democracy education in the field of social studies education.
Bu araştırmanın amacı, Sosyal bilgilerde insan hakları ve demokrasi eğitimi alanında yapılan lisansüstü tezlerin incelenmesidir. Araştırmada 2007-2021 yılları arasında yayınlanan 17 lisansüstü tez araştırmanın veri kaynağını oluşturmuştur. Nitel araştırma yönteminin benimsendiği bu çalışmada doküman inceleme yönteminden analizinden yararlanılmıştır. Elde edilen verilerin analizinde betimsel analiz içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Yapılan çalışma sonucuna göre, yüksek lisans tezlerinin doktora tezlerine göre fazla olduğu görülmüştür. Lisansüstü tezlerin en fazla 2017 yılında yapıldığı ve en çok Erzincan Üniversitesinde hazırlandığı belirlenmiştir. Araştırmalarda en fazla tarama modeli tercih edilirken veri toplama aracı olarak da anketin doküman incelemesinin kullanıldığı görülmüştür. Çalışma grubuna göre sosyal bilgiler öğretmenleri, veri analiz yöntemine göre betimsel analizin öne çıktığı saptanmıştır. Ayrıca bazı araştırmalarda yöntem, çalışma grubu, veri toplama araçları ve veri analiz yönteminin belirtilmediği görülmüştür.
