Bu araştırmada turizm rehberliği lisans programlarındaki akademisyen öğrenci sayılara değerlendirilerek akademisyen başına düşen öğrenci oranı tespit edilmiştir. Daha sonrasında ise elde edilen sonuç Türkiye ve OECD ortalamasıyla karşılaştırılmıştır. Türkiye’de 2022-2023 eğitim öğretim dönemi itibariyle lisans düzeyinde turizm rehberliği bölümü aktif olan program sayısı 41’dir. Turizm rehberliği eğitimi yedi farklı birim adı altında devam etmektedir. Turizm rehberliği lisans eğitimi bulunan üniversite sayısı 41’dir. Bu üniversitelerden üçü vakıf üniversitesidir. 2023 yılı itibariyle turizm rehberliği bölümlerinde görev alan öğretim elemanı sayısı 263 olup bunlardan 22’si vakıf üniversitelerinde görev almaktadır. 2023 yılı itibariyle turizm rehberliği bölümlerine kayıtlı öğrenci sayısı 10,038 olup bunlardan 324’ü vakıf üniversitelerine kayıtlıdır. Araştırma kapsamında devlet üniversiteleri bünyesinde bulunan turizm rehberliği bölümlerinde akademisyen başına düşen öğrenci ortalamasının 40,3 olduğu belirlenmiştir. Bu sonuç OECD ortalaması olan 15,3 ve Türkiye ortalaması olan 21,7’nin oldukça üzerindedir. V akıf üniversitelerinde bulunan turizm rehberliği bölümlerinde ise öğretim elemanı başına düşen öğrenci oranı 14,7’dir. Bu sonuç Türkiye ve OECD ortalamalarına göre daha düşüktür. Vakıf üniversitelerinde öğretim elemanı başına daha az öğrenci düşmektedir. Öğretim elemanı başına düşen öğrenci oranları eğitim kalitesi, akademik danışmanlık, bilimsel gelişim açısından ele alınarak çeşitli öneriler geliştirilmiştir. Bu önerilerden en önemlisi ise mevcut akademisyen sayısını nitelikli bir şekilde artırmak ya da öğrenci kontenjanlarını akademisyen/öğrenci oranına göre belirlemektir.
In this study, the rate of students per academician was determined by evaluating the number of academician students in tourism guidance undergraduate programs. The result obtained was compared with the average of Türkiye and OECD. The number of tourism guidance departments in Turkey is 41, and the training continues under the name of seven different units. The number of universities with tourism guidance undergraduate education is 41. Three of these universities are private universities. As of 2023, the number of teaching staff working in tourism guidance departments is 263, and 22 of them work at private universities. As of 2023, the number of students enrolled in tourism guidance departments is 10,038 and 324 of them are enrolled in private universities. Within the scope of the research, it has been determined that the average of students per academician in tourism guidance departments of state universities is 40.3. This result is well above the OECD average of 15.3 and the Türkiye average of 21.7. In the tourism guidance departments of private universities, the rate of students per instructor is 14.7. This result is lower than Türkiye and OECD averages. There are fewer students per academic staff in private universities. Various suggestions have been developed by considering the ratio of students per instructor in terms of education quality, academic counseling and scientific development. The most important of these suggestions is to increase the number of current academicians in a qualified way or to determine the student quotasaccording to the ratio of academicians.
