Abstract

With the increasing importance of the sharing economy, coworking spaces have become one of the concepts that have entered the working life in our country as well as in the world. On the one hand, while technology is developing, on the other hand, the ways of doing things are changing, so it has become a necessity to make a difference in the places where we work. Especially with the increase in remote working, digitalization and technological opportunities, the culture of working outside the office has started to develop. Although working from home is becoming more common today, this brings some distractions in terms of work-life balance. In addition, the emergence of the need for individuals to belong to a community over time makes it possible for them to apply for alternative office spaces. In this context, the first academic research on coworking spaces emerged in the 2010s. The aim of this study is to conduct a bibliometric analysis of articles in the international literature on coworking spaces based on various parameters. Within the framework of this purpose, firstly, Web of Science (WoS) database was searched with the terms “coworking space”, “co-working space”, “coworking spaces” and “co-working spaces” and 324 articles published between 2012 and 2023 were found. The distribution of the analyzed articles according to years, languages, organizations, journals, Web of Science categories and indexes, sustainable development goals and countries of production are shared with tables and figures. In addition, the most frequently used keywords in the articles, the most cited articles, the linkage of the publications and the journals in which the publications are included according to the bibliographic matching analysis, the linkage status in the citation, journal and author co-citation network were visualized and interpreted through VOSviewer software.
