INVESTIGATION OF THE SOCIO-DEMOGRAPHICAL CHARACTERISTICS, THE LEVEL OF MOTOR PERFORMANCE AND THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF THE CHILDREN OF THE 11-14 AGE GROUP

Abstract

        The aim of the present study was to investigate the relation between the socio-demographic characteristics, the level of motor performance and the quality of life of the children of 11-14 age group. The sample of the study comprised a total of 122 students of the 11-14 age group from the province of Uşak, 65 of whom being female (X̅:12.36±1.03) and 57 male (X̅:12.24±1.13). The participants were applied the ‘Kid-KINDL Quality of Life Scale for the Children of the 8-12 Age Group’ and the ‘Kiddo-KINDL Quality of Life Scale for the Adolescents of the 13-16 Age Group’ in order to determine their quality of life. Their levels of motor skills were determined by using the Bruininks-Oseretsky Motor Competency Test (BOT-2/Short Form). Windows SPSS IBM statistics software was used in examining the statistical tests. Consequently, it has been determined that there is a relation between the socio-demographical characteristics, the level of motor performance and the quality of life of the children of the 11-14 group, and that these factors affect each other.

11-14 YAŞ GRUBU ÇOCUKLARIN SOSYO-DEMOGRAFİK ÖZELLİKLERİ, MOTOR PERFORMANS DÜZEYLERİYLE YAŞAM KALİTELERİ ARASINDAKİ İLİŞKİNİN İNCELENMESİ

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı; 11-14 yaş grubu çocukların sosyo-demografik özellikleri, motor performans düzeyleri ile yaşam kaliteleri arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesidir. Çalışmanın örneklemini Uşak ilinde öğrenim gören 11-14 yaş arası 65 kız (X̅:12.36±1.03) ve 57 erkek (X̅:12.24±1.13) olmak üzere toplam 122 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmaya katılan çocukların yaşam kalitelerinin belirlenebilmesi için bireylere Kid-KINDL 8-12 Yaş Çocuk Yaşam Kalitesi Ölçeği ve Kiddo-KINDL 13-16 Yaş Ergen Yaşam Kalitesi Ölçeği testleri uygulanmıştır. Motor beceri düzeyleri ise Bruininks-Oseretsky Motor Yeterlilik Testi (BOT-2/Kısa Form) ile değerlendirilmiştir. İstatistiki testlerin incelenmesinde Windows SPSS IBM istatistik programı kullanılmıştır. Sonuç olarak; 11-14 yaş grubu çocukların sosyo-demografik özellikleri, motor performans düzeyleri ve yaşam kaliteleri arasında ilişki olduğu ve bu faktörlerin birbirlerini etkilediği belirlenmiştir.
