Araştmmda, Erzurum merkezdeki 50 yaş ve üzeri insanlann serbest zamanlannı değerlendirme
şekilleri incelenmiştir. Araştırmaya katılan 244 denek, Enutum'un farklı semtlerinden seçilmiştir.
Katılımcılann, 126 s\ erkek, 118'i bayandır. Katılımcılardanerkeklerin % 36,5'i, bayanlann % 30,5'i
bir işte çalıştıktannı, erkeklerin % 15,9'u, kahvehaneyc gittiğini, %50'si, televizyon seyrettiğini,
%31,7'si, ibadet ettiğini, % 2,4 ise evde dinlendiğini belirtirken, bayanlann tamamı kahvehaneye
gitmediklerini, %50'si televizyon seyrettiğini, % 28'i, ibadet ettiğini, % 2,5'i evde dinlendiklerini
belirtmişlerdir.
Araştırmaya katılan erkeklerin, % 41,3'ü günde 1- 3 saat, % 49,2'si günde 4- 6 saat, % 9,5'i 8 saat ve
üzeri televizyon seyrederken, bayanlann %40,7'si 1- 3 saat, % 51,7'si 4- 6 saat, %7,6's\ ise 8 saat ve
üzeri televizyon seyrettiğini, hazırlanacak bir sportif etkinlik programına
Erkeklerin % 28,6'sl her zaman, % 50'si ara sıra, %15,9'u nadiren katılmak istediklerini, bayanların
ise % 27, I'i her zaman, % 44, i'i nadiren, % 22'si ise her zaman katılabileceğini belirtmiştir. Sportif
faaliyetlere katılım sonucu kendilerini daha sağlıktı ve dinç hissedeceklerini belirten erkeklerin oranı
% 81, bayanlar ise % 86,4 tür.

ABSTRACT
In this study, it was examined how people, older than 50 and living in Erzurum, spend their free-time.
The 244 subjects were ehosen from various distriets of ErzulUm. ]26 partieipants were male and 118
were fwmale. Partieipants reported that; 36.5 per cent of male were employed while 30.5 per cent of
the females were employed; for male participants: ] 5.9 per cent of them were going to eoffee-house,
50 per cent of them were watehing tv, 31.7 per cent of them were praying and 15.9 per cent of them
were resting at home. On the other hand for female partieipants: all of them were not going to cpffeehouse,
50 per cent of them were watching tv, 28 per cent of them were praying and 2.5 per cent of
them were resting at home.
Male partieipants reported that; 41.3 of them were watehing tv for 1-3 hours in aday, 49.2 of them
were watching tv for 4-6 hours in a dayand 9.5 of them were watching tv for 8 hours or (onger in a
day. Duration ofwatehing tv fort he females was; 40.7 afthem were watching tv for 1-3 hours in a
day, 51.7 of them were watching tv for 4-6 hours in a dayand 9.5 of them were watching tv for 8
hours or longer in a day.Male participants reported that; 28.6 per cent of them always, 50 per cent of
them sometimes, 15.9 per cent rarely want to take part in a sport aetivity while female participants
reported that; 27.1 per cent of them always, 44.1 per cent of them sometimies, 22 per cent of them
rarely want to lake part in a sport activity. 81 per cent of the males and 86.4 of the females reported
that they would be feeling hcalthier and more vigorous by taking part in sport aetivity.
