                                                                                                <abstract><p>Amaç: Protezkaide materyallerinin yüzey pürüzlülüğü protezin klinik kullanımını etkileyenönemli bir özel- liktir. Bu çalışmanın amacı farklı cila materyallerininpolimetilmetakrilat (PMMA) ve poliamid içerikli protez kaide maddelerinin,temizleme tableti uygulama son- rası yüzey pürüzlülüğüne etkisinindeğerlendirilmesidir.Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışmada polimetilmetakrilat (QC -20) ve poliamid (Deflex) esaslı ikifarklı kaide mad- desi kullanılarak toplamda 60 adet örnek 3 mm kalınlık ve 20mm çapta diskler halinde (n=10) hazırlandı. Kontrol grubunda örnekler pomza vekıl fırça ile cila- landı. İkinci grup örneklere pomza ile yapılan cilayı ta- kibenUniversal Polishing Paste, üçüncü gruba ise Pa- laseal cila materyaliuygulandı. Yüzey pürüzlülük öl- çümleri örnekler efervesan tablet formundakiCorega temizleyici solüsyon uygulamadan önce ve sonra dijital birprofilometre cihazı kullanılarak yapıldı. Örneklerin pürüzlülük değişiklikleri (Ra) iki yönlü varyansanalizi ve Fisher’sLSD test ile istatikselolarak karşılaştırıldı (p&amp;lt;0,05)Bulgular: Cilamateryalleri ve protez kaideleri arasın- da istatiksel olarak anlamlıetkileşimler bulundu (p&amp;lt; 0,001). Cila materyali uygulanan bütün örnekler,sade- ce pomza ile cilalanan kontrol gruplarına göre daha düşük pürüzlülükdeğerleri gösterdi (p&amp;lt;0,001). Protez temizleyicisi polimetilmetakrilat vepoliamid rezinlerinin pürüzlülüğünü anlamlı olarak arttırdı (p&amp;lt;0,001)Sonuç: Protez cila materyallerinin uygulanması ileprotez yüzeylerinin daha düzgün hale getirilebileceği ve proteztemizleyici tabletlerin neden olabileceği yüzey pürüzlülüğünü azaltabileceğigöz önünde bulundurulmalıdır.AnahtarKelimeler: polimetilmetakrila, poliamid, protez temizleyicileri, yüzey pürüzlülüğüTHEEFFECT OF DENTURE POLISH MATERIALS ON THE SURFACE ROUGHNESS OF DIFFERENT BASEMATERIALSABSTRACT Aim: Surface roughness of denture base materials is animportant property that affects clinical use of the prostheses. The aim of thisstudy is to evaluate the effect of different polishing materials onsurface roughness of polymethlymethacrylate and polyamide denture base resinsafter use of a denture cleaner.Material and Method: Total of 60 samples were prepared from polymethlymethacrylate (QC-20) and polyamide (Deflex) as 3 mm thickness and 20 mm diameter discshaped (n=10). Samples were polished with pumice and bristle brush in controlgroups. Universal Polishing Paste were subjected to the second group afterpumice and Palaseal were subjected to the third group. Surface roughness test was performed with a digitalprophylometer (Ra) before and after effervesance denture cleaner (Corega). Datawere analysed by two way ANOVA and Fischers LSD post hoc test (p&amp;lt;0,05).Results: Polish materials and denture bases showed significantinteractions (p&amp;lt;0,001). Groups polished with polish materials showedsignificantly lower surface roughness values when compared to controlgroups that polished only with pumice (p&amp;lt;0,001). Denture cleaner increasedthe surface roughness of polymethlymethacrylate and polyamide resinssignificantly (p&amp;lt;0,001).Conclusion: It should be considered that denture polish materialsmay provide more smooth denture surfaces and eliminate the deleterious effects of denture cleaners.Keywords: polymethlymethacrylate;polyamide; denture cleaner; surface roughness</p></abstract>
