<p>The aim of this study is to present the contributions of children’s games to cognitive development within the framework of traditional children’s games “Eski Minder” and “Deve-Cüce”. These contributions are considered in terms of executive function, language, and creativity skills. Executive functions consist of (i) working memory and recall, (ii) activation, arousal, and effort, (iii) controlling emotions, (iv) internalizing language, and (v) complex problem solving. “Eski Minder” and “Deve-Cüce” are also discussed for each of these subcomponents. The findings and interpretations brought together within the scope of the current study indicate that these two children’s games are effective in the development of the aforementioned cognitive areas (i.e. executive functions, language, and creativity) in terms of their structures. For example, in “Eski Minder”, children exhibit their creativity in line with the rule set by “it”, while in “Deve-Cüce”, by analyzing the verbal formulas of the game such as “camel-dwarf-dwarf-camel” and applying successive body movements such as standing up and sitting, they experience complex problem solving.</p></trans-abstract>
