AĞRI DEĞERLENDİRMESİNDE TEK BOYUTLU ÖLÇEKLERİN KULLANIMI

Abstract

USE OF ONE-DIMENSIONAL SCALES IN PAIN ASSESSMENT

Year 2020, Volume: 23 Issue: 3, 444 - 451, 30.09.2020

Abstract

Pain is an experience that individuals life affect negatively. In order to be able to decide whether or not the pain management is effective, the pain must be assessed with a valid measurement tool. The easiest way to evaluate pain is to ask the patient whether he or she is in pain. However, it is not enough to make an evaluation as “present or not”. Therefore, the first step of effective pain management is evaluating of the pain with appropriate assessment tools / tool. Today, one-dimensional and multidimensional scales are used in assessing pain. In this review, information about the one-dimensional pain scales used in assessing pain severity will be given.
