THE EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT CYCLE TIMES AND APPLICATION RATES ON ADVANCE TIME OF WATER THROUGH FURROW IN SURGE IRRIGATION
SUMMARY: In this study, the improvement potential of water advance time for surge irrigation was investigated at different application rates and cycle times, compared with continuous irrigation. Four different cycle times (30+30, 25+25, 20+20 and 15+15) were selected. Two different application rates (0,90 L/s and 1,35 L/s), one of which had the maximum value, were used in experiments. The experiments were conducted for furrows in 120 m length, loam soil. The data were collected from the first and second irrigation in the season. Our data showed that least water advance volume is needed for short cycle times and the lowest application rate (0,90 L/s) of the first irrigation compare to continuous irrigation. However, second irrigation results suggest that least water advance volume was completed with maximum application rate and short cycle times.
