Bu çalışmanın temel amaçları, Bilecik Şeyh Edebali Üniversitesi Coğrafya Bölümünü 2009 yılından günümüze tercih eden öğrencilerin köken bölgelerinde yıllara göre yaşanan değişimin ortaya konulması, öğrencilerin Bilecik kentini ve Bilecik Şeyh Edebali Üniversitesi Coğrafya Bölümünü tercih etme nedenleri, Bilecik kenti ve üniversite ile ilgili memnuniyet düzeyleri ve motivasyon unsurlarının belirlenmesi, her ile bir üniversite politikasının Bilecik ili ölçeğinde değerlendirilmesidir. Bu kapsamda, Bilecik Şeyh Edebali Üniversitesi Coğrafya Bölümüne kayıtlı 165 öğrenciye anket uygulanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler Faktör Analizi, ANOM testi ve Kümeleme Analizi ile test edilmiştir. Araştırma bulguları, 2009 yılından günümüze öğrencilerin Bilecik ili tercihlerinin çoğunlukla coğrafi mesafe yakınlığına göre şekillendiğini, bu konuda özellikle Doğu Marmara Bölgesi illerinin ve İstanbul’un ön planda olduğunu ortaya koymuştur. Yerelleşme politikaları ekseninde kurulan Bilecik Şeyh Edebali Üniversitesinin idari ölçek bakımından küçük bir kent olan Bilecik için önemli bir şans olduğu görülmektedir. Fakat Bilecik ilinin bir üniversite kenti olabilmesi için öğrencilerin sosyo-ekonomik taleplerine yönelik güncel politikaların üretilmesi önemlidir.
The main objectives of this study are to reveal changes in the regions of origin of students who have chosen Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University Geography Department since 2009, to determine the reasons why students have chosen Bilecik city and the department, to assess satisfaction levels and motivational factors related to Bilecik city and the university, and to evaluate the policy of one university per province using Bilecik province as a case study. In this context, a questionnaire was administered to 165 students enrolled in the Department of Geography at Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University. Within the scope of the data obtained, analyses were performed using Factor Analysis, the ANOM test, and Cluster Analysis. The research findings revealed that geography department students' preferences for Bilecik Province from 2009 to the present are largely determined by geographical proximity; in particular, the provinces of the Eastern Marmara Region and Istanbul are at the forefront. Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University, established as part of localisation policies, represents an important opportunity for Bilecik, a city small in administrative scale. However, for Bilecik to become a university city, it is important to develop contemporary policies that address students' demands.
