Detection of rapid changes in land cover/use is extremely important in determining a planned-sustainable land use for the future. In this study, between the years of 1989 and 2021 on the shores of Balıkgöl (Ağrı) was examined by using satellite images and field observations in order to reveal the land cover/use changes. According to the determined results, it has been observed that functional changes occur on the shores of Balıkgöl, especially due to recreational activities. It was determined that the pasture areas covered a large area on the coast in 1989, and in 2021, agricultural activities were carried out in a narrow area of 100 meters around the settlements located near the coast, where the physical geography conditions were favorable. In the study, annual change rates for each land cover type were calculated by using the Puyravaud formula at the last stage. The values for each land use feature were proportioned with similar precision, and accuracy analysis was performed using the Kappa Index.
