Bu çalışmada, makro iktisatta son yüzyılda oluşan belli başlı teorik gelişmeler özetlenmiştir. Ekonomide yaşanan krizler her dönemde iktisat teorisine hakim anlayışın sorgulanmasına yol açmıştır. Keynes’in Genel Teori’sinin yayımlanmasından günümüze kadar makro iktisatta eski ve yeni Neo-Klasik Sentez olarak adlandırılan iki oydaşma oluşmuştur. Her iki sentez de kapitalizmin yaşadığı yapısal krizler sonrasında eleştiri konusu olmaya başlamışlardır. Bu çalışmanın amacı eski ve yeni Neo-Klasik Sentez’in krizler karşısındaki yetersizliğini, bu iki sentezin ana argümanları üzerinden anlamaya çalışmaktır.
