Suicide is the second or third leading cause of death among teenagers. There are about approximately 10 times as many as suicide attempts than actual suicide. Numerous attempts had been made to use Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPD to predict the suicidal behavior. The olinical literature regarding the use of the MMPI with suicidal patients were conducted with adults and adolescents studies were few. The aim of this study is to discriminate the suicide attempted adolescents İrom non-suicidal group with psychiatriç complaints by using the MMPI. In this study suicide attempted group consisted of 16-22 aged, at least juniour High School educated 13 boys and 27 girls total of 40 subjects who admitted to the Adolescent Ünit, Control group were selected from non-suicidal patients who had neurotic complaints and matched With reseacrh group (regarding sex, age and education). So the total sample were 80 adolescents. To all the subjects MMPI were applied. Student's T were used for statistical analysis. Results had been disscussed on the basis of statistical anlysis and profile analysis. Sexual differences found in this study is of sig; nificant importance. The findings highlight the necessity of studying the sexes seperately.

İntihar ergenlerde ölüm nedeni olarak ikinci veya üçüncü sıradadır. İntihar girişimi intiharla ölüme göre hemen, hemen, on kez daha fazladır. Minnesota çok Yönlü Kişilik Envanteri (MMPI) kullanılarak intihar davranışının yordanmasına çalışılmıştır. İntihar eden hastalarda MMPI kullanımıyla, ilgili literatür daha çok erişkinlerleilgilidir ve ergen çalışmaları çok azdır. Bu çalışmada MMPI uygulayarak intihar girişiminde bulunan ergenlerle psikiyatrik yakınmaları olup, intihar girişimi olmayan ergenlerin ayırtedilmesi amaçlanmıştır. İntihar girişimi olan ergen grubu Ergen Bölümüne başvuran en az orta okul mezunu, 16 -22 yaşlar arasında 13 erkek ve 27 kız,toplam 40 denekten oluşmuştur. Kontrol grubu nörotik yakınmaları olup, intihar girişimi olmayan hastalar arasından seçilmiş ve araştırma, grubuyla eşleştirilmiştir (Cinsiyet, yaş ve eğitim gözönünde bulundurularak). Toplam örnekleme grubu 80 ergenden oluşmaktadır. Tüm deneklere MMPI uygulanmıştır. İstatistiksel analiz için Student's T Test kullanılmıştır. Sonuçlar istatistiksel analiz ve profil analizine dayanarak tartışılmıştır. Bu çalışmada elde edilen cinsiyet farkulığı anlamlı bulunmuştur. Bulgular cinsiyetlerin ayrı ayrı ele alınması gerektiğini göstermektedir.
