                                                                                                <abstract><p>Ferritin bir çok hematolojik malignjte ve solid tümörde serum düzeyi yükselen intrasellüler bir demir depo proteinidir.Bu çalışmada 8&#039;i kadın, 18&#039;i erkek 26 Mültiple Myeloma vakasında tedaviden önce ve sonra ferritin düzeyleri tayin edilerek, 5&#039;i kadın olmak üzere 10 kontrol vakasıyla mukayese edildi.Serum ferritin düzeyleri tedaviden önce anlamlı şekilde yüksek bulundu. Tedaviden sonra ise önemli derecede düşme saptandı. Bu 248 şekilde diğer malignitelerde olduğu gibi) plazma hücre malignitelerinde de yükseldiği sonucuna varıldı. Hastalığın yaygınlığı ile ferritin düzeylerinin ilişkisi araştırıldığında; Evre I ve II arasında önemli fark olmadığı fakat evre II ve III arasında, Evre I ve [II arasında önemli farklılık olduğu görüldü. Bu sonuçlara dayanarak, hastalığın aktif dönemlerinde serum ferritin düzeylerinin arttığı, bu nedenle remisyon ve nükslerin erken tesbitinde yararlı olacağı sonucuna varıldı. Ayrıca tedavinin etkinliğini süratli aksettirecek bir kriter olabileceği görüldü. Hastalığın yaygınlığı hakkında da fikir verebileceği tesbit edildi. Fakat teşhis açı sından tek başına seçkin bir kriter olmadığı, sadece tanıyı destekleyecek bir kriter olabileceği düşünüldü</p></abstract>

                            <p>The importance of the serum ferritin level in the diagnosis, staging and treatment of mu(tipfe myefoma Ferritin is an intracellular iron depot protein which increases it&#039;s serum levels in many solid tumours and hematological malignancies. in this research, ferritin levels of 26 multiple myeloma cases were determined before and after treatment. There were 8 females and 18 males. The results were compared with 10 healthy subjects which included 5 females and 5 males. Serum ferritin levels of untreated patients were found to be significantly increased. However, a marked decrease was noted after treatment, Therefore we come to a conclusion that; as in other malignancies, ferritin increases in plasma cell malignancies too. As in relation between tlıe serum ferritin levels and the dişsemination of the disease were researched; we observed that there was no difference between the patients of stage I and II, but there was a marked difference between the stages of 1-11 and 11-111. According to these results; we noted that the serum ferritin levels increases in the active stages of the disease which enables an  early determination of the remission and relapses, Also this parameter reflects the effectiveness of rapid therapy. However, it may also give data about the dissemination of the disease. Serum ferritin levels can support the other diagnostic parameters of the diagnostic parameters of the disease, but they are not the only criteria for the diagnosis.</p></trans-abstract>
