Bu çalışmada, Türkiye'de ilk defa toplumun bütün kesimlerini içine alan bir epilepsi prevalence araştırması gerçekleştirilmiştir. 7038 kişi epilepsi yönünden araştırma kapsamına alınmış, taramadan geçirilmiştir. 52 epileptik bulunmuştur. Bunlardan 20 si erkek, 32 si kadındır. Vak'aların 42 si grand mal, 3 ü petit mal, 3'ü psikomotor epilepsi, 4'ü ise diğer grupta yer almıştır. Bulguları, bazı riskleri göze alarak Türkiye'ye genellediğimizde, ülkemizde 332550 epileptik bulunduğunu söyliyebiliriz.
In this study, 1t has been investigated epilepsy prevalence and its revelant factors in the community for the first time in Turkey. 52 cases were found among 7038 people examined. The prevalence of all forms of epilepsy is 7,39, per 1000 population. The number of males and females are 20 and 32 respectively. The Grand Mal type epilépsy was found on 15 males and 27 females, the Petit Mal * type on 2 males, 1 female and Psychomotor type on 1 male and 2 females. Other type of epilepsy was also found on 2 males and 2 females. Tf a general conclusion is to be made from these statistics, it may be said that there are 332 550 epileptics.in Turkey.
