<p>This experimental study evaluates a modified surgical technique—&quot;half rotated ileotransversostomy&quot;—as an alternative to the classical termino-terminal ileotransversostomy between the terminal ileum and transverse colon. Fifteen dogs were used for experimental surgery, and histopathological evaluations were conducted. The results showed superior tissue integrity, less edema, and reduced inflammation in the rotated group compared to the classical group. Additionally, clinical outcomes of 64 human cases were reviewed, comparing different ileotransversostomy techniques. The 180° axial rotation provided improved alignment and reduced anastomotic leakage by allowing the mesoileum to cover the posterior suture line. This approach was found to offer anatomical and technical advantages over the classical method, suggesting its clinical safety and efficacy.</p></trans-abstract>
