<p>This study explores EEG abnormalities observed in 40 patients diagnosed with psychogenic amenorrhoea, mostly referred from obstetrics clinics with suspected hypothalamic origins. EEG testing was performed using an 8-channel Medcraft Model D device, including deep breathing and photic stimulation protocols. Results revealed 40% abnormal EEG activity, characterized by temporal-parietal theta patterns, diffuse sharp wave forms, and disorganized paroxysmal spikes. No patient exhibited clinical epilepsy, though misdiagnosis risk remains due to EEG similarity. Proposed mechanisms include estrogen-level fluctuations and electrolyte imbalances affecting cerebral bioelectrical function. This paper highlights the importance of considering menstrual history during EEG evaluations to avoid erroneous epilepsy diagnoses.</p></trans-abstract>
