                            <p>This academic review introduces the physical principles and diagnostic uses of medical thermography. Based on Sir William Herschel’s discovery of infrared radiation, it explains human skin’s emissivity (~0.99) and how spontaneous radiant heat relates to physiological processes. Applications include placental localization without radiation, detection of early pregnancy, differential diagnosis of breast masses (e.g., cancer, mastitis), vascular disorders like Raynaud’s, cerebral blood flow asymmetry, monitoring wound healing phases, and thyroid nodule screening post-scintigraphy. The review affirms thermography as a complementary and radiation-free tool, especially valuable in radiology. A comparative mention is made of infrared photography vs. true thermal scanning.</p></trans-abstract>
                                                                                                                                    <abstract><p>Bu akademik derlemede, tıbbi termografinin fizik temelleri ve klinik kullanımı açıklanmaktadır. Sir William Herschel’in kızılötesi ışın keşfinden hareketle, insan derisinin yayım özelliği (~0.99) ve spontan ısı yayımının fizyolojik süreçlerle ilişkisi anlatılır. Tanı alanında uygulamalar arasında; radyasyon içermeden plasenta lokalizasyonu, gebeliğin erken saptanması, meme kitlelerinin ayrımı (kanser, mastitis vs.), Raynaud gibi vasküler hastalıklar, serebral kan akımı asimetrisi, yara iyileşme evrelerinin izlenmesi ve tiroid nodülü görüntülemesi (sintigrafi sonrası) yer alır. Termografi, radyoloji açısından tamamlayıcı ve iyonizan ışın içermeyen bir yöntem olarak sunulmaktadır. Ayrıca, kızılötesi fotoğrafçılık ile termografik teknik farkları karşılaştırılmaktadır.</p></abstract>
