Investigation of S-M Cells in Urological Diseases with Pytel Modification of Sternheimer-Malbin Stain Technique

Abstract

Ankara Tıp Fakültesi Üroloji Kliniğinde son bir sene içinde, Ürolojik hastalığa musap 135 hasta ile, 20 normal şahsın idrarı Sternheimer - Malbin ve Pytel modifiye teknikleriyle boyanarak (310 boyama) incelendi.

Orijinal teknikle 135 vak'anın ancak 49 unda (% 36.3), Pytel'in modifiye metodu ile 72 sinde (% 53.3) S-M hücresi tesbit edilmiş olup, 20 normal şahsın idrarından her iki a, da S-M hücresi bulunamamıştır.

Modifiye metotla hücreler daha vazıh, çekirdekleri daha, belirli, Brownien hareketler çok açık seçilecek bir durumda görülmektedir (Şekil 1, 2).

Her iki metotta neticeler arasındaki fark, Pytel ve arkadaşlarının bildirdiği kadar (5) fazla olmamakla beraber, Ürolojinin belli başlı problemlerinden birisi olan Pyelonefritlerin teşhisi ve takibinde, postoperatif yüksek ateş hecmelerinin pyelonefritle ilişkisi olup olmadığını tayinde, kolay ve neticelerinin daha iyi olması bakımından arijinal tekniğe tercih edilerek rutin muayenelerarasında yapılması kanaatindeyiz

Sternheimer - Malbin Boya Tekniğinin Pytel Modifikasyonu ile Ürolojik Hastalıklarda S-M Hücresi Araştırılması

Abstract

In the last year, in the Urology Clinic of Ankara Faculty of Medicine, the urine of 135 patients with urological diseases and 20 normal individuals were stained with Sternheimer-Malbin and Pytel modified techniques (310 stains) and examined.

With the original technique, S-M cells were detected in only 49 of 135 cases (% 36.3) and with Pytel's modified method, in 72 cases (% 53.3), and neither of the 20 normal individuals' urines were found to have S-M cells.

With the modified method, the cells are seen more clearly, their nuclei are more distinct, and Brownian movements are clearly visible (Figure 1, 2).

Although the difference between the results of both methods is not as much as reported by Pytel et al. (5), we believe that in the diagnosis and follow-up of pyelonephritis, which is one of the major problems of urology, and in determining whether postoperative high fevers are related to pyelonephritis, it should be preferred to the original technique and performed during routine examinations because it is easier and yields better results.
