Fotografik Mekân: Uyarlanabilir Yeniden Kullanıma Analojik Yaklaşımlar

Abstract

Bu çalışmada mekânsal dönüşüm uygulamalarına, hem mekân tasarımı kapsamındaki biçim ve işlev tartışmaları ışığında hem de daha geniş bir perspektiften, mekânsal deneyimin bellekteki önemi üzerinden yaklaşılmıştır. Bu bağlamda mekân, biçimsel anlamda var edilmenin ve işlevselliğin yanında belleğin oluşumuna da olanak sağlayan yönüyle ele alınmıştır. İnsan, maddesel özelliğiyle bellek de oluşum prensibi nedeniyle katmanlaşacağı mekâna gereksinim duymaktadır. İçinde bulunarak mekânı deneyimleyen insan, mekânsal işlevin gerçekleşmesine olanak sağlayan biçimsel ögeleri de belleğine aktararak mekânla bütünleşmektedir. Çalışmanın amacını da oluşturan mekânsal dönüşümlerin bellekle olan ilişkisini aktarma, fotografik bir analojiyle mekânın kadraj olarak kabul edilmesi üzerinden gerçekleştirilmektedir. Çeşitli zamanlarda çeşitli gerekçelerle ele alınıp dönüşüm gerçekleştirilen mekânlar, sınırlandırılmış ve odaklanılmış bir mekân tasarımı alanı olarak çalışmanın kapsamını belirlemekte tercih edilmiştir. Çalışmanın yöntemini ise mekân tasarımı ve fotoğrafın literatür çalışmalarında ilkin kendi öz dinamiklerinde incelenmesi, her iki disipline ilişkin kavramlar ve yeniyi üretmek için izlenen yöntemlerin araştırılması oluşturmaktadır. Sonrasında edinilen veriler analojik bağlantılarla değerlendirilerek mekân ve fotoğrafa yönelik yeni kavramsal söylemler geliştirmiştir. Mekânı, tasarım disiplini yerine farklı bir perspektiften ele alıp belleğin katmanlaşmasına olanak tanıyan bir kadraj, dolayısıyla mekânsal üretimi de fotografik bir pozlama olarak kabul etmek çalışmanın özgün yaklaşımını oluşturmaktadır. Mekânsal üretim fotografik bir pozlama olarak kabul edildiğinde ise dönüştürme eylemi ile yapılan her yeni üretim, mekânsal bir çoklu pozlama denemesi olarak karşılık bulmaktadır.

Photographic Space: Analogical Approaches to Adaptive Reuse

Abstract

In this study, spatial transformation practices are approached both in the light of form and function discussions within the scope of spatial design and from a broader perspective, through the importance of spatial experience in memory. In this context, space is addressed with its aspect that enables the formation of memory as well as formal existence and functionality. With its material characteristic, human beings need a space in which they can be layered due to the principle of memory and its formation. The human, who experiences the space by being in it, integrates with the space by transferring the formal elements that enable the realization of the spatial function to his memory. Transferring the relationship between memory and spatial transformations, which also constitutes the purpose of the study, is realized through a photographic analogy by accepting the space as a frame. Spaces that have been handled and transformed for various reasons at various times have been preferred to determine the scope of the study as a limited and focused spatial design area. The methodology of the study consists of first examining space design and photography in their own dynamics in literature studies, investigating the concepts related to both disciplines and the methods followed to produce the new. Afterwards, new conceptual discourses on space and photography were developed by evaluating the data obtained through analogical connections. The original approach of the study is to consider the space from a different perspective instead of the design discipline and to accept it as a frame that allows the layering of memory, and therefore spatial production as a photographic exposure. When spatial production is accepted as a photographic exposure, each new production made with the act of transformation corresponds to a spatial multiple exposure attempt.
