Sarımsak, Allium cinsi içerisinde soğandan (Allium cepa L.) sonra ekonomik öneme sahip ikinci türdür. Çoğaltımı vejetatif olarak dişlerle yapılmasına rağmen, bitkiler arasında yaprak yapısı, yalancı gövde formu, baş şekli, kabuk rengi, diş sayısı ve rengi gibi özelliklerde yüksek morfolojik varyasyon gözlenmektedir. Çalışmada, Türkiye’deki en yaygın ve yüksek depolama kapasitesine sahip popülasyon olan Taşköprü sarımsağı üzerinde üretici katılımı esas alınarak klon seleksiyon yöntemi uygulanmıştır. Seçim kriterleri olarak yaprak sayısı, yaprak açısı, baş kabuk rengi, baş ağırlığı (g), baş sıkılığı, diş sayısı, diş ağırlığı (g), diş kabuk rengi, iri diş oranı özellikleri değerlendirilmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre; ortalama yaprak sayısı 8,50-12,00 adet, yaprak açısı 40,00° olan, baş kabuk rengi kök bölgesinde krem üst kısımda beyaz, baş ağırlığı 23,80–28,60 g arasında değişen, sıkı baş yapısına sahip, 4,00–6,00 adet koruyucu kabuğu bulunan bir çeşit adayı belirlenmiştir. Bu adayın diş ağırlığı 1,20–1,79 g, diş kabuk rengi ise pembe krem renginde iri diş oranı %85,00’dir. Çalışma sonucunda, üretici katılımıyla yürütülen klon seleksiyonunun, yerel popülasyonlardan yüksek kalitede ve standart özelliklere sahip sarımsak çeşitlerinin geliştirilmesinde etkili bir yöntem olduğu ortaya konmuştur.</p>

<p>Garlic is the second most economically important species in the genus Allium, following onion. Although garlic is propagated vegetatively through cloves, high morphological variation is observed among plants in traits such as leaf structure, pseudostem form, bulb shape, skin color, number and color of cloves. In this study, a clone selection method based on farmer participation was applied to Taşköprü garlic, the most widespread local population in Türkiye, known for its high storage capacity. The selection criteria included number of leaves, leaf angle, bulb skin color, bulb weight (g), bulb compactness, number of cloves, clove weight (g), clove skin color, and percentage of large cloves. According to the results, a candidate variety was identified with an average of 8.50–12.00 leaves, a leaf angle of 40.00°, bulb skin color creamy at the root zone and white at the upper part, bulb weight ranging from 23.80 to 28.60 g, compact bulb structure, and 4.00–6.00 protective outer skins. The candidate had a clove weight of 1.20–1.79 g, clove skin color of pinkish cream, and a large clove ratio of 85.00%. The results demonstrated that farmer-participatory clone selection is an effective approach for developing high-quality, standardized garlic varieties from local populations.</p></trans-abstract>
