SPECIES OF ANOBIIDAE FAMILY IN TURKEY AND INTRODUCTION OF SOME IMPORTANT ONES OF THESE SPECIES

Year 2004, Volume: 6 Issue: 6, 142 - 152, 01.06.2004

Abstract

The origin of its family name means “anobius”, a Greek word, that is, returning life. They are known as death watch beetles in English and anobiides in French. Some mature ones of species of some genus are called as butting beetles because of the noise they caused while hitting like butting to the walls of gallery they opened. This is the sound of both sexes hitting their heads on timbers during the mating season. This family has more than 1100 species of 100 genus known all over the world. In Turkey, approximately 66 species of 25 genus were determined. These species whose damage were determined on the hardwoods and softwoods species and on the materials made from these woods economically in Turkey are as followings: Anobium punctatum, Xestobium rufovillosum, Ernobius mollis, Ptilinus pectinicornis.

TÜRKİYE’DE BULUNAN ANOBIIDAE (TOSVURAN BÖCEKLER) FAMİLYASINA BAĞLI TÜRLER VE BUNLARDAN BAZI ÖNEMLİ TÜRLERİN TANITIMI

Year 2004, Volume: 6 Issue: 6, 142 - 152, 01.06.2004
