COMPLEMENTARY INTERVENTIONS USED IN THE MANAGEMENT OF PAIN, ANXIETY AND SLEEP PROBLEMS IN BURNED PATIENTS

Year 2020, Volume: 2 Issue: 1, 25 - 41, 31.12.2020

Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine experimental or quasi-experimental studies evaluating the effectiveness of complementary applications used in pain, anxiety and sleep problems management in burn patients. Systematic review is based on the PRISMA-P (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic review and Meta-Analysis Protocols) guideline. Search was done with the keywords "pain", "anxiety", "sleep", "burn" from PUBMED, Science Direct, Wiley Online Library, Google Scholar databases. Experimental and quasi-experimental studies are included in the scope of the examination. The full text of the study, including English or Turkish studies, was included. No restrictions were made for the publication year. This systematic review study included 19 studies published in 1992-2020, the language of which was published in English and the full text was included. There are no Turkish studies matching the sample criteria. 4 studies are quasi-experimental and 15 studies are experimental. Pharmacological methods as well as non-pharmacological methods are important in the care of a burned individual and especially in the management of pain, anxiety and sleep problems. There are studies showing that these complementary methods are effective. However, in order to reveal the effects of these methods in the short and long term, long-term experimental studies with larger sample are required.

YANIKLI HASTALARDA AĞRI, ANKSİYETE VE UYKU SORUNLARI YÖNETİMİNDE KULLANILAN TAMAMLAYICI UYGULAMALAR

Year 2020, Volume: 2 Issue: 1, 25 - 41, 31.12.2020

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı yanıklı hastalarda ağrı, anksiyete ve uyku sorunları yönetiminde kullanılan tamamlayıcı uygulamaların etkinliğini değerlendiren deneysel veya yarı deneysel çalışmaları incelemektir. Sistematik derlemede PRISMA-P (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic review and Meta-Analysis Protocols) rehber esas alınmıştır. Çalışmaların 4’ü yarı deneysel, 15’i deneysel tiptedir.
