Abstract

MAZMUN pun witticism) is originally defined as an Arabic word and is one of the most important elements related to the meaning aspect of the Classical Ottoman Poetry as "an indirect expression means' Image on the other hand, is also accepted as an indirect expression means just like mazmun and especially utilises a similar meaning to poetry like mazmun within the New Turkish Poetry
Mazmun, which was a significant expression and transferring means of poetry language in the Pre- Republic Period, has left its own place to image in the Turkish poetry language in the Post-Republic period. Although its including meaning does not resemble with image, mazmun has changed itself in a small matter and tried to survive its existence within image in an indirect way. In this study, generally it is tackled with the terms of mazmun and image. With the help of sample poems and opinions of the subject specialists, similarities and differences between mazmun and image are characterised. It is emphasised that there were no transformations in some specific properties within the journey from mazmun to image.
