Bir Dönüşüm Süreci Olarak Strateji: Mintzberg’in Perspektifinden Bütüncül Bir Yaklaşım

Abstract

Bu çalışma İşletme alanının önde gelen isimleri arasında sayılan Henry Mintzberg’in stratejik yönetim düşüncesi alanına katkı sağladığı biçimleşme okulu (configuration school) anlayışının değerlendirilmesini amaç edinmektedir. Çalışmanın temel iddiası şu şekilde ifade edilebilir: Mintzberg’in biçimleşme yaklaşımı örgütlerin değişen dış koşullar karşısında iç ve dış imkânlarını seferber ederek adapte olmasını öngören kapsamlı bir bakış açısı sunmaktadır. Böylece, örgütler beklenmedik durumlarla başa çıkabilecek yeteneklerini geliştirebilirler. On stratejik okul anlayışı içerisinde kapsamlı bir özelliğe sahip olan biçimleşme, örgütlerin dönüşüm sürecine bütüncül bir bakış açısı sunmaktadır. Bu çerçevede, öncelikle biçimleşme okulunun tarihsel gelişimi ve temel özellikleri incelenecek. Sonrasında, örgütlerde güç ve yapının farklı biçimleşme modelleri ve dönüşüm kavramının kapsamı ele alınacaktır. Son olarak, çalışma biçimleşme okuluna yönelik eleştirileri ve katkılarını tartışacaktır.

Strategy As A Transformation Process: A Holistic Approach From Mintzberg's Perspective

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the understanding of the configuration school, which Henry Mintzberg, who is considered one of the leading names in the field of business, contributed to the field of strategic management thought. The main claim of the study can be expressed as follows: Mintzberg's configuration approach offers a comprehensive perspective that envisages that organizations adapt to changing external conditions by mobilizing their internal and external opportunities. Thus, organizations can develop their abilities to deal with unexpected situations. Configuration, which has a comprehensive feature among the ten strategic school understandings, offers a holistic perspective to the transformation process of organizations. In this context, first of all, the historical development and basic features of the configuration school will be examined. Afterwards, the different configuration models of power and structure in organizations and the scope of the concept of transformation will be discussed. Finally, the study will discuss his criticisms and contributions to the configuration school.
