Publication History and Policy Changes of the Journal
The journal was launched in 2008 under the name "Biological Diversity and Conservation/Biyolojik Çeşitlilik ve Koruma (e-ISSN: 1308-8084; ISSN: 1308-5301)" available in both print and open access formats.
From its inception, the journal has published academic articles written in Turkish and predominantly in English.
Beginning in 2024, the journal has adopted English as its primary language of publication and only accepts articles written in English.
In line with its commitment to promoting open science and increasing the accessibility and dissemination of scientific research, the journal Biological Diversity and Conservation has adopted the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0) starting with Volume 19, Issue 3 (2026).
Accordingly, all articles published from Volume 19, Issue 3 (2026) onward are made available under the CC BY 4.0 license, which permits unrestricted use, distribution, reproduction, and adaptation in any medium, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s) and the source.
The journal published two issues per year in 2008, three issues per year from 2009 to 2025, and four issues per year from 2026 onwards.
