Achipteriid mites (Acari, Oribatida, Achipteriidae) of the Harşit Valley

Year 2018, Volume: 58 Issue: 2, 63 - 69, 31.03.2018

Abstract

The achipteriid
mites inhabiting in the Harşit Valley (Turkey) were evaluated based on samples
collected in 2013 and 2014. The extraction of mites from materials collected
from the investigation area was made by using a Berlese-Tullgren funnel
extractor. Extracted mites were fixed and stored in 75% ethanol. The light and
scanning electron microscopes were used to examine mites. The compound
microscopic examinations of specimens were made in lactic acid, mounted in
temporary cavity slides. Electron microscope photos of all determined taxa were
taken. Total three species belonging to the family Achipteriidae Thor, 1929
were determined. Of these, Campachipteria (Triachipteria) patavina (Oudemans, 1914) and Campachipteria
(Triachipteria) petiti (Travé, 1960) are new records
for the Turkish fauna; Achipteria (Achipteria)
nitens
(Nicolet, 1855) has already been determined in Turkey. As a
result, the morphological features of all determined taxa were reviewed on the
basis of our samples. Furthermore, the identification key to the known genera
of the family Achipteriidae from Turkey was arranged.

Harşit Vadisi’nin achipteriid akarları (Acari, Oribatida, Achipteriidae)

Year 2018, Volume: 58 Issue: 2, 63 - 69, 31.03.2018
https://doi.org/10.16955/bitkorb.359786

Abstract

Harşit Vadisi’nde yaşayan achipteriid akarlar, 2013 ve 2014
yıllarında toplanan örnekler esas alınarak değerlendirildi. Araştırma alanından
toplanan materyallerden akarların özütlenmesi Berlese-Tullgren huni
özütleyicisi kullanılarak yapıldı. Özütlenen akarlar %75’lik etil alkolde
tespit edildi ve depolandı. Akarların incelenmesinde ışık ve tarama elektron
mikroskopları kullanıldı. Örneklerin mikroskopik incelenmesi çukur lamda ve
geçici olarak hazırlanmış laktik asitli ortamda yapıldı. Belirlenen taksonların
elektron mikroskobu fotoğrafları çekildi. Achipteriidae Thor, 1929 familyasına
ait toplam üç tür tespit edildi. Bunlardan Campachipteria (Triachipteria) patavina (Oudemans,
1914) ve Campachipteria (Triachipteria)
petiti
