Art and politics have influenced each other in many ways in Turkey as in the rest of the world. While politics had a determining role on art in times such as the despotism period, the first years of the Republic and the coup periods, the determining feature of art began to become more evident in the 1960s-1970s and with the beginning of the Turgut Özal period. While the main subject of art during these periods was current political events, many opposition theater groups reflected their criticism of the policies of the governments to the public from the theater stage. Ortaoyuncular, founded by Ferhan Şensoy, critically addressed the effects of the Neoliberal transformations experienced by Turkey in the 1980s from various perspectives. This study examines the plays “İstanbul’u Satıyorum” and “Kahraman Bakkal Süpermarkete Karşı”, which were staged as a criticism of this transformation process, by content analysis method. This study reveals that both plays encompass various characteristics of political theater and epic theater. It demonstrates that the playwright of the texts criticizes the political figures and events of their era by transforming them into comedic elements
SSanat ve siyaset tüm dünyada olduğu gibi Türkiye’de de birbirini birçok yönden etkilemiştir. İstibdat dönemi, Cumhuriyetin ilk yılları ve darbe dönemleri gibi zamanlarda siyasetin sanat üzerinde belirleyiciliği olurken, 1960-1970’li yıllarda ve Turgut Özal döneminin başlamasıyla sanatın belirleyici olma özelliği daha belirgin hale gelmeye başlamıştır. Bu dönemlerde sanatın temel konusu güncel politik olaylar olurken, birçok muhalif tiyatro grubu iktidarların politikalarına yönelik eleştirilerini tiyatro sahnesinden yansıtmıştır. Ferhan Şensoy tarafından kurulan Ortaoyuncular tiyatro ekibi, 1980’li yıllarla birlikte Türkiye’nin yaşadığı neoliberal dönüşümlerin etkilerini birçok açıdan eleştirel bir üslupla dile getirmiştir. Bu çalışma, dönüşüm döneminin bir eleştirisi olarak sahnelenen “İstanbul’u Satıyorum” ve “Kahraman Bakkal Süpermarkete Karşı” oyunlarını içerik analizi yöntemiyle incelemektedir. Çalışma, her iki oyunun politik tiyatronun ve epik tiyatronun birçok özelliğini taşımakta olduğunu ve tiyatro metinlerinin yazarının dönemin siyasi isimlerini ve olaylarını birer komedi unsuru haline getirerek eleştirdiğini ortaya koymaktadır.
