After Turkey’s joining the NATO a foreign policy understanding in which the identity of the state began to be defined as a western state. This understanding is observed not only in government, but also in the opposition parties and the media. Turkey’s Middle East policies in the framework of the Baghdad Pact, especially between 1954-1958, represent a process in which foreign policy has entered the Western consept. Akis magazine, which claims to be an impartial press, is that can be traced to the changing in foreign policy. In this study, comments and criticisms in the Akis magazine on Turkish foreign policy between 1954-1958 were examined. In this way, while analyzing Akis’s approach to foreign policy, it is purposed to get an idea about foreign policy understanding which is dominant in government, opposition and public opinion in this period. After mentioning the foreign policy developments during the Democratic Party period, Akis magazine was briefly introduced, and the attitude of the magazine to the government and the opposition parties was also mentioned. Later, its approach to foreign politicy was examined through foreign policy criticism. Finally, it has been argued that this magazine can or cannot be a reference source for academic texts.
