Abstract
Myths, which are the product of primitive man's thought power, are accepted as sacred stories. These products, which emerged as a need to understand and make sense of the outside world, have a past as old as the history of humanity. Mythic products were accepted as sacred values for a period because they contain certain rules. Myths, the creation of the universe and human beings; along with questioning the past of animals and plants, it explains how a behavior, an institution, a way of working came about. The universe in myths, human, animal, plants etc. The reality and sanctity associated with it brought symbols with it. Color, number, animal, etc. Some symbols gain value in cultural memory by identifying with the cultural codes of the society. Symbols that establish a link between the past of societies and their future generations are among the main elements that keep the culture alive. Although camels are among the items unique to the Arab society, they have gained a place in Turkish culture starting from the Central Asian cultural life over time. On this occasion, the camel has become a symbol for many elements in Turkish culture. In this study, in which the qualitative research method was adopted, document analysis was carried out. Within the framework of animal symbolism in Turkish mythology, “Camel” related determinations are included. As a result of the research, it has been determined that the camel has been an important symbol in our cultural life since the mythical period.
